About Us

Macole Love Foundation was established in August 2020 by family and friends of Mother Mamatu Betty Wolapaye Cole for the purpose of memories alive and carry out her dreams.

Our Background

How It All Started

On her dying bed, Mother Cole requested that she would like for the Pastor’s office space at Faith-Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania to be expanded. This is a project she had wished to spearhead as President of Faith-Immanuel Church Council, before falling ill and going home to be with the Lord. She was a life-long school teacher before immigrating to the U.S. from Buduburam Refugee Camp in Ghana, where she resided for several years with her family as a result of the civil war back home in Liberia.

From Buduburam to America

The Inspirational Journey of Mother Cole

While at Buduburam, she founded the Macole Home Academy, an Elementary and Junior High refugee school which soon became renowned for its high standards. Mother Cole had planned to move the school to Liberia after the civil war ends. That plan was delayed when she had the opportunity to emigrate with her family to the U.S. in 2007.

A Legacy of Love and Compassion Guided by Faith

Mother Cole was also a very loving and compassionate person, two qualities that were driven by her faith in the Gospel and life of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Anyone who knew Mother Cole was touched by that love and compassion for others.

Quality and Affordable Education for Children

However, Mother Cole’s dream of establishing a school in Liberia lived on, leading her to purchase land in Liberia for the school project prior to her homegoing. And on her dying bed her dream for the school remained a top priority when she requested her family and friends who were by her hospital bedside to please establish a school system in Liberia in her memory to provide quality and affordable education to the children of Liberia!

Making the Dream a Reality

And so, honoring her dying wishes – to establish a school system in Liberia to be known for high standards, quality education, to share the Gospel and love of Christ with others which were hallmarks of Mother’s life – family members and friends of Mother Cole came together in 2020 and founded Macole Love Foundation, the institution through which these laudable goals will be realized.

Our Mission

Macole Love Foundation’s mission is to provide quality and affordable education to the children of Liberia and impact the world with the Gospel and love of Jesus Christ which were the hallmarks of Mother Cole’s life.

Board of Directors

Macole Love Foundation is run by a board of directors which consists of Mother Cole’s family members and friends who are dedicated to keeping her memories alive and carrying out her dreams. The board in turn enlists the help of volunteers, donors, and supporters to undertake programs and projects to foster the mission of the Foundation. It is this collective commitment and collaboration that ensures the success of Macole Love Foundation!
